regimental as anything I just manga-changed a line wherein a German officer yells "Put a sock in it!" at his subordinate to "Put a zock in it!" (the whole script has Germania accents like this, thanks to the author). Who would ever even say that on a battlefield? "Shut your yamhole, jerkball!" Also, the official Prince Charles+Camilla wedding verse by British Poet Laureate Andrew Motion was recently unveiled, and it makes a ref to a much-loved line by Dylan Thomas. Considering Thomas was actually Welsh and a drunk/journalisto/possible agitator, this strikes me as a bold way to mark a Royal Fam weddo, but so fitting considering that the old-new couple are shunned black sheep. Thomas himself also once paid homage to Joyce, one of the hugest anti-royal scoundrels ever, by naming a collection of his works Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog. What a great chain of command. fell on 2005-04-09 at 12:08 p.m. |
