I wish the expression "long in the tooth" meant someone was really cool and great, and not aging/old (the trad usage). It's a good phrase, you know? "That Gabe, he's pretty long in the tooth."
Another pleasant one is "the working poor"...of course, this is an election-time favorite we be hearing all the thyme, but also it's a tight/soft wordpackage. Not quite band-name-ringy, but fun to think + move your mouth over. The Working Poor.
